New Fun Beads!!

Heeeeeelllloooo!!!

So, the "Down the Street" (DTS) bead show came through Charlotte (sorta). Actually, it came through Rock Hill, but that's only 20 minutes away, so I still made a trip. For those who don't know what the DTS bead show is....it's like a heaven for any jewelry designer...more specifically, it's when a bunch of bead & supply vendors who get together to sale their wares in one place. There were about 20 different vendors with numerous stands of gemstones, shells, pearls, and more! It was awesome! I went a little crazy, and got several new strands of beads, but they are fabulous! I can't wait to make something beautiful with all my new goodies. Stay tuned for some hot new designs, coming you way soon!

Web Site - Technical Issues

Hey guys,

I just wanted to let you know that there may be a few technical issues on the site for the next couple days. My hosting service just migrated my web site to a new server, so I'm having to make several code changes to adapt to the new environment. I'm trying to take care of this ASAP, but I wanted to send a head's up in case anyone ran into any issues. I apologize in advance for any problems you may encounter on my site, but I hope to have any issues resolved by end of day today.

Also, if you've placed an order in the last couple days and have not received a confirmation email from me, please contact me at diana@dcelestine.com .

Thanks for your patience,

Diana

Quote - Happiness

I found a good quote today that I thought I'd share with you:

"Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling."
~ Margaret Lee Runbeck

When I read this, it reminded me that it's easy to think of "happiness" as some sort of goal to attain, when really it's more a way to live your life every day. As I think that pictures keep a blog from looking boring, here's a little somethin' for your viewing enjoyment....

Diana in Blue Topaz Earrings

In case you were wondering, the earrings are named after Princess Diana...not me. I think this design looks very regal - like a princess. I have more colors on their way, so check online for the new colors!

Hope you like the quote!

Gift Certificates - Who Knew?

Hey guys!

I've been designing some gift certificates for D Celestine Limited jewelry, and while doing some research on the subject (b/c I want to do them right), I found out an interesting piece of information I thought I'd share with you....did you know that in most states, gift certificates are not supposed to expire under a certain time period? In fact, I found one site that said that gift certificates in NC aren't supposed to expire before 3 years, and in some states they can never expire - by law! Who knew?? So, some of this information may be dated, but I would think that the current laws would be somewhat similar. Oh, and I'm definitely not an expert on this by any means, nor am I a lawyer or person involved with the government who has any authority on the subject, but the next time you find a gift certificate laying around that has "expired" - you may want to google on gift certificates and expiring because you may still be able to use it! I think the laws vary for different types of gift certificates (retail, restaurant, etc.), different states, and some companies may be able to sneak their way around this by calling their "gift certificates" by a different name, but this is definitely something to keep in mind!

Here's an article from Wikipedia on the subject: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gift_certificate

Here's an aritcle about consumer protection and gift cards: http://www.ago.state.ma.us/sp.cfm?pageid=1800

Here's a blog that has a list of states and their laws (although I think the laws may be from 2003): http://o2b.net/archives/gift-certificates-the-gift-that-goes-away/

By the way, DCL is now offering gift certificates for purchase. Also, keep an eye out for any contests on the blog for your chance to win a free DCL gift certificate!

What's Hot - Tailored Gauchos and Loose Tanks

Hey guys!

I just wanted to pass on a trend that I've been seeing a lot in various fashion magazines - tailored gauchos and loose-fitting tanks. Anyone who's ever had a pair of gauchos knows how incredibly comfortable they are, and while the new tailored gaucho isn't quite as comfortable, it's still pretty close. I love the loose fitting leg of the gaucho style!

Tailored gauchos* & a loose tank* look great with my "Bay Aqua" set! Click here to see the jewelry

Even better than that though....the loose tank is showing pretty big this spring. These tanks are usually fitted in the straps and upper section and free flowing from the bust down. I love this cut because it's so much more comfortable than those tanks that are tight all around. I especially like how it's loose around the stomach....it looks like designers are taking a turn to the more demure look, making it fun to be a lady! A trendy one, but a lady nonetheless!

Learning Flash!

Hey guys!

Some cool news....I'm learning Flash! For those who aren't familiar with web design, Flash is the program/language used to create all those pretty images, banners, ads, etc. that have all the moving text and colors. I've already created a new flash movie for my home page! It's just 6 pictures that fade in and out of one another, but I think it adds some extra zing to my homepage! I tried my hardest to put a copy of the actual flash movie in the blog so you could see it, but it wouldn't let me, so I'm going to have to post a link to it. Here's a link to the actual flash movie, since I'll probably change it in a few weeks:

Click here to see the Flash movie

So...what do you think? Hopefully, I'll keep coming up with new and fun ideas for the web site!
