Sexy, Stunning Shoes

While shopping for my perfect pump, I ran across this stunning and oh-so-sexy pair by Giuseppe Zanotti - Jeweled Leather d'Orsay Pumps:

Image and item from saks.com

For a split second (or maybe more than a second) I wondered "Perhaps I don't need those work pumps. Hmm...I could get some pretty good use out of these shoes. I could wear them to...the mall...and...ummm...hanging out with my friends...and...oh yea, the grocery store..." Yea, needless to say I didn't get these babies...oh, if only I could wake up rich! These jeweled Zanotti pumps would so be in my shoe rack!

Any rich girls out there trying to fill their Spring 2007 metallic quota should snatch these pumps up asap! These shoes would fit the metallic trend with class!

Oh-So-Lovely Oscar Looks

The stars looked fab last night on the Academy Award red carpet. Here are some of my fave looks:

Cate Blanchett in Armani - just lovely!

Helen Mirren in Christian Lacroix - doesn't she look "regal"?

Nicole Kidman in Balenciaga - on anyone else this dress is goofy, on her - c'est chic!

Reese Witherspoon in Nina Ricci - every girl is going to go out and get bangs now - she looks great!

Beyonce - her dress was ok but her hair/makeup were faboo (the picture doesn't do the look justice - it looked much better on TV)

Rachel Weisz - slightly casual with a sexy twist - love it!

Another great night of fashion fun!

Work Chic - Classic With a Twist

Well, they're not designer, but these Enzos got me through the day. I must admit, by the end of the day, I was ready for them to come off and could only imagine how much better a designer pair would be for my work week. I need to get my a-double-s to the mall so I can go shoe shopping asap!

Anywho, I tried to do a classic style today...with a twist. I paired a classic black pleat skirt with a black/white printed, button-down top. To update the look, I added a patent leather belt around the waist:

How's that for work-chic?

The Hunt for the Perfect Pump

Ok darlings, I need your help. I am on a hunt for the perfect pair of pumps...here's the scoop...

I just started a new project at the headquarter office of a major bank, so I want some really snazzy shoes that will make me dressed to impress...aka money is not an object. Not that I'm made of money, but these shoes will be what I like to call "investment chic." I'm not out to buy designer shoes every day, but if I'm going to be wearing these puppies on a regular basis to an important job, they may as well be nice. Actually, I don't have any designer shoes yet (unless Cole Haan counts...hmm), so these would be my first pair...but I digress...

The other part of the deal is that I'm parking a few blocks away from the building where I actually work, so I need shoes that I can actually walk around in that are comfortable. Every girl has a pair of heels they can walk all day in...so, help a fellow fashionista out...

Drop me a comment with your favorite shoe that you can walk comfortably in while still maintaining your chicness. Did I mention I'm working in a bank? The shoes should probably be on the conservative side too. Here's what I'm eyeing at the moment:

Image and item from saks.com - Christian Louboutin Point Toe Pumps - $495 (click for details)

Any other ideas?

Bring on Banana Republic - Work Gets Chic

I think it's official...I'm addicted to Banana Republic. I guess for where I am in life, it makes sense...BR is one of few stores that offers clothing you can wear for work and play. Mostly for work though - the styles are youthful while still being super classy. Especially considering the majority of my time is spent at work, and I've just started a new project, having nice clothes for work is really important. For chic work clothes, I turn to BR...here's what I'm craving:

A chino suit is always a great investment. The pieces will work well individually or worn as the full suit look. The top shown in this outfit isn't exactly work appropriate for most offices, but a suitable top is easily found elsewhere on the BR site

This outfit screams ladylike. I love the flowy skirt and puff-sleeve blouse together. This look would be great for another day at work or for a daytime date.

This outfit is all about chic - it couldn't be more simple - no patterns, no embellishments, but the simplicity of the outfit is what really draws me into this look. I especially love the wide-leg pants.

Although far from work-appropriate, I really love the look of this outfit for a casual summer day or simple vacation outfit. You may be able to pull off the top at the office, but why worry about that when you can enjoy it on your time off.

Business Casual Chic

Hello darlings!

I'm planning on doing a "How to dress business casual" post in the next couple weeks, inspired by my latest project. I'm a consultant by day, and my company sends me on various projects, and this past Wednesday, I started a new project at a bank, so you may notice more "business casual" outfits on SA. Fear not, the fun outfits will still be coming out in full force...they just may have to share the spotlight with some work-inspired looks.

Here's what I wore today:

Top - Gap
Sweater - Banana Republic
Pants - Banana Republic
Boots - Ann Taylor Loft
Necklace - D Celestine Limited (click for details) - it's sold on the site, but I can make another one at request

Signature Spring 2007 Top

Does anyone else out there want this top as much as I do?

Image and item from Anthropologie.com - swallowtail halter - $128 (click for details)

At over $100, this top would make a great signature piece for spring/summer 2007. I don't know about you, but a top over $100 better be damn nice and I better get good use out of it...which is why a signature piece here and there for different seasons are always make a good buy. Anywho, this top has lots of great colors in it, making it a good focal point for your outfit. You can let the top be the star of your outfit and wear it with jeans, a black skirt, white pants, and you can even dress it up or down. Brighten up your look by pairing the top with green or turquoise bottoms - just have fun with it! By pairing the same, signature top with different bottoms or accessories, you can get more use out of it without wearing the same stale outfit over and over again, not to mention you can get away with wearing a top you really love more than your normal ones.

Winner of Fab Clutch Selected!

Wow! I am so impressed with everyone's entries! With so many fabulous items tagged "shopaholic," it was a tough decision. There were lots of items that caught my eye, but one stood out just a tad bit more than the others, and it was:

This top would be perfect for spring - wear with jeans or a flowy white skirt for an effortlessly perfect Spring 2007 ensemble. Click here to see the winning entry

Anywho, Shop Happy, give me a shout-out and drop me your email. You can email me at shopaholicd at gmail dot com.

Thanks again to everyone for playing and stay tuned for our next contest, which will be announced early next week.

More For Motorcycle Boots

Are you wondering what to buy for spring 2007? Well, you can check for the other "Spring 2007" labels, but really, buying black is always a good decision. And, since the "Channeling Jessica Alba" post seemed to be so popular, I'm happy to report that there's a great dress out there for anyone who likes this style. I just purchased a simple black dress from Gap for just under $50 - the jersey knit is super comfy and the simple design makes it a great staple for any girl's wardrobe OR a great layering piece for gals who like to pile the layers on.

With a simple gray wrap sweater to stay warm...or just to add layers

Just the dress - it's a simple LBD...what's not to like, right?

Since it's still "technically" winter, this look would probably be better with black tights underneath, but I was going shopping at the mall, and I didn't want to deal w/ taking tights off and on and off and on...you get the point.

Ooh, I almost forgot to mention...this dress would be great for work! Just remember to wear a cami under...we don't want you getting promoted for the wrong reasons ;) This dress looks great with a blazer and chic pumps for a sophisticated look. I have an outfit in mind...I'll have to post that soon!

Dress - Gap - $49.50 (click for details)
Dress is also available in brown

Opposites Attract for Spring 2007

It looks like the saying "Opposites Attract" couldn't be any truer for Spring 2007 fashion. Luckily for you, you can find all your fave spring 2007 trends in one store - Anthropologie.

Cool cobalt blue is complimented by sunny yellow. These colors will look great together, but make a statement with a gorgeous sundress in one solid color or the other:

Seven Hills Dress - $98 (click for details)

Blue Holly Dress - $188 (click for details)

Wide leg men's style trousers will be in full swing this year, but to keep yourself from getting complimented by businessmen (and I don't mean flirting), sweeten up your look with a girly top:

Safe Passage Pants - $118

Algarve Blouse - $78

All images and items from Anthropologie.com

Apologies

Sorry for the lack of posts over the weekend. Blogger's robots, for some reason, thought my blog may be spam? Silly Blogger. Anywho, they locked my blog until they could review it, so this is the first I've been able to post. Since it's so late, I'm skipping Fashion Friend Finale for last week, but hopefully, I'll be able to post away from now on!

Fashionably Yours,

Shopaholic D

Fabulous, Not Little, Black Dress

Perhaps for the same reason I love Angelina Jolie's style or these motorcycle boots, I really really really love this dress from Carolina Herrera's Fall 2007 fashion show

Carolina Herrera - Fall 2007 Runway - Image from Glam.com

It's goth and girly all wrapped up into one fabulous, not little, black dress. It's a little on the frilly side, but I kinda like that about this dress - it's over-the-top glamourous...on purpose! It kinda reminds me of the whole "if you got it, flaunt it" saying. Oh, and ladies, do be on the lookout for lots of "tough chic" on the Fall 2007 runways...this is a great example, IMO.

My Tallest Heels

Shopholic Sweetie, The Girls, asks, "what's your highest heel??"

Well, my tallest pair would be my Cole Haan Tivona Air Sling with the Nike Air Technology (which I still need to review...I didn't forget!). They stand with a 4" heel and are my tallest pair by 1/2 an inch. Click to see details

Anywho, since I've already posted that pair before, here are my next tallest - these have 3 1/2" heels:

From left to right: Black patent slingbacks by BCBGirls, Silver Espadrilles by bebe, Blue Pumps by MICHAEL Michael Kors (you've prolly seen this MK pair a couple times...I love them!)

Too bad I couldn't afford those Louboutins I was lusting over last season...then they'd be my tallest!

Channeling Jessica Alba

There's just something about the "tough girl" look that I love. I like to dress myself depending on my mood, and sometimes, nothing fits the bill like an outfit a la Angelina Jolie's vampy chic look. Don't get me wrong, I still love to dress preppy, but when I saw this page of People's Style watch mag awhile back, I knew I had to find these smokin' motorcycle boots:

People Style Watch - Fall 2006

It took me months to find the perfect pair, but I did manage to find this hot pair of motorcycle boots by Cole Haan...and they were on sale!

A cozy sweater to stay warm during this cold spell - it's a bit bulky, but so nice for keeping my warm:

Without the sweater - just a simple black top:

Skinny jeans - Guess
Black T-Shirt - Gap
Wrap Sweater - Banana Republic
Motorcycle Boots - Cole Haan

Excuse the broken images...

...it appears blogger is experiencing technical difficulties

A Dress For Any Occasion - Spring 2007

With dresses still being so hot for Spring 2007, there are a bazillion choices for all your warm-weather occasions. If you're on the lookout for great dresses for this spring, look no further:

1. Day Time Diva

Image and item from Nordstrom.com - Ella Moss Waldo Dress (click for details)
This comfy cotton dress would be the perfect daytime dress for going to the mall or hanging out with your girlfriends. The green and black stripes will look hot with boots during transition weather and simple flats once things heat up. Perfect with a long beaded necklace

2. Day Time Date

Image and item from Guess.com - Desert Palm Dress (click here for details)
Since when did Guess get so classy? The white polka dots on the navy empire dress invoke a certain sense of preppy, making this a perfect day time date dress. Coincidently, if you're headed to a more casual wedding this spring 07, this may just be the perfect look, but maybe not so much for a black tie affair. Pair with white espadrilles to complete the look.

3. Work It, Girl!

Image and item from saks.com - Diane VonFurstenburg Short Sleeve Shirtdress (click for details)
What's black and white and oh-so-trendy? How bout this wrap dress, which is not only hot for Spring 2007, but is a great look for work. If you want to update your work wardrobe, remember this DVF number. This ladylike cut, paired with some round toe pumps and simple diamond studs make your workday look corner office appropriate.

4. Meet the Parents

Image and item from jcrew.com - Leilani printed poplin dress (click for details)
Ok, so if your honey's parents are super conservative, you may want to check out dress #3, but IMHO, this dress is oh-so-ladylike and would make a great first impression (or regular visit if you've been together awhile). This dress reminds me a lot of something Sarah Jessica Parker would wear - the full skirt and preppy pattern make the look simply chic. Pair with some simple strappy sandals or pumps to let the dress shine.

5. Date Night Dress

Image and item from Nordstrom.com - Tocca 'Vivienne' Dress (click for details)
If you're trying to figure out what to wear for a date this spring, try this flirty and uber romantic dress by Tocca. The look is reminiscent of Marie Antoinette (thanks Kirsten Dunst), but the frilly ruffles and simple off white tone are updated with this modern cut. Look sweet and sexy with this fabulous dress, which would look great with simple strappy shoes.

Happy dress shopping, darlings!
