What's Your Guilty Fashion Pleasure?

Everyone (ok, almost everyone) has some secret fashion adoration that isn't exactly always mainstream or widely accepted. For me, I secretly love knee-highs. Perhaps I've watched Clueless one too many times, but if knee-highs would come back into style, I'd be all over it. Ok, so even when I was in high school, I got nervous wearing knee-highs in public, but I'd at least think about it. What I'm really trying to work towards is not caring so much what other people think, but that is so hard sometimes! That's why I'm trying to work on putting together some more risque items. :)

Anywho, here's Sarah Jessica Parker (as Carrie Bradshaw) on the set of the new Sex and the City movie:

Fab Flats for Fall 2007

I love flats. I love heels, too, but sometimes, you get to the point where you just need a break from them. That's a good time to turn to your (at least my) other fave: flats. Here are some fab flats for Fall 2007:

Façade 'Madison' Flat - $89.95
Gray is the new black, right? The bow is sooo cute, too!

MICHAEL Michael Kors 'Trinity' Flat - $108.95
Flats with some subtle color. I'm feeling the detailing on the front.

Juicy Couture 'Edith' Flat - $225
I'm so in love with these Juicy flats, it's sad. I think I'm going to have to buy these with my limited October budget money. They're very Jessica Alba, no?

Sex and the City Movie: Shoe Look-alikes

I was browsing the web tonight and happened to notice that these shoes:

(Ted Baker Silk a Heels on sale at Queen Bee - image/item queenbeegirls.com)

remind of me of these shoes:

from the upcoming Sex and the City movie. It's not an exact match, but they some similar features.

Do you like Carrie's shoes?

Colored Hose for Fall 2007

Based on my recent post on colored hosiery, you guys really like them...except for that bizzaro gold lame shtuff. Anywho, I've purchased a couple colors of tights for this fall 2007 and I can't wait to start wearing them. I feel like my style is very classic...sometimes almost to a fault where my outfits can be boring. Raise your hand if you're tired of seeing Shopaholic D's work outfits. I know, I know, ever since starting my project at the bank, it seems that's all I post any more. Well, I promise to start experimenting more with my outfits...starting with this:

Why am I holding flowers, you ask? These are my b-day flowers, and as I was walking to the only semi-blank wall of my home, I noticed some of them kinda matched my mauve-like hose. I had to take a picture.

Don't worry...I'll still be doing some "classic" outfits, and I'll still post work-wear photos...hopefully, just with more fun outfits worked into the mix. :)

Mauve-Toned Hose: DKNY

Casual Chic - Dinner and a Movie

Ok, guys, admittedly, I'm being lazy tonight and decided to post an outfit from a couple weeks ago b/c I don't feel like changing out of my pink & green Lilly Pulitzer PJ's I'm currently lounging in whilst typing. Anywho, this is an outfit I wore recently for a casual date with my SO to grab dinner from a cute little Mexican restaurant and go see The Bourne Ultimatum (great movie btw...I recommend):

I wanted to be comfortable, but most importantly, I wanted to be warm. Those movie theaters are freezing! Good thing I picked up this trapeze style cardigan from TJ Maxx recently - perfect for layering. A girl's got to have lots of options for layering, right?

Green Bubble Top: Banana Republic
Gray Trapeze Cardigan: TJ Maxx
Skinny Jeans: Guess
Black Patent Platform Slingbacks: Cole Haan
Vintage Pendant Necklace: D Celestine Limited

Shopping in Style

Don't you hate when you really want to wear something, but you can't quite figure out how to wear it? I really wanted to wear my ankle booties with some black leggings, but the top I thought would look perfect with them didn't look so hot once I had it on. Slightly frustrated, I decided to give up on the ankle booties/leggings combo (I have all fall and winter, right?) and put on another outfit that I've been meaning to wear for awhile. You know...one of those outfits you put together in your head while browsing your closet and then forget to wear over and over? Maybe that's just me...anywho, I remembered said outfit and wore this to do some errands this weekend:

I decided to pick up a couple things from American Apparel and the mall. Yea, I know I'm not really supposed to be buying anything right now, but a too-strict-budget is like a too-strict-diet. If you stop cold-turkey you're going to binge later. Anywho, I'm sure I'll work the Am Apparel stuff and the other couple things I got from the mall into some outfits soonish. Oh yea, and the girl at Am Apparel told me my outfit was really "classy"...awww!

Funky Booties to Wearable Pumps

I'm sure you've all seen these crazy creations by Christian Louboutin:

Christian Louboutin Emily Shoe Boots (image/item net-a-porter.com)

I'm not sure exactly why, but I'm strangely attracted to these. I mean, looking at them by themselves, they're not all that attractive, but they did look pretty good at the Roland Mouret runway show I saw on net-a-porter (

Anywho, whilst browsing the web tonight, I found these:

Betsey Johnson Whitfield Pump (image/item nordstrom.com)

They look very similar, no? I like to think of them as having similar features while being a lot more wearable and definitely a lot more affordable at nearly four times less the price. Not only can I not afford the top pair, but I'd be much more inclined to grab the B Johnsons from my closet when getting dressed for the day.

Which pair do you prefer?

Simply Chic - Perfect Wedges for Work or Play

Oh Christian, how do you do it? These are so simply chic:

Christian Louboutin Miminette patent wedges (image/item net-a-porter.com)

You would think it wouldn't be hard to find a simple, black pair of wedges that are work-appropriate, but these are about only the 2nd pair I've really liked. These wedges are perfect for work or play. They have the perfect heel height for the office, which is coincidentally a nice height if you plan on doing some walking in your shoes and don't want to fall over in pain from too-tall-shoes. The patent fits right in with Fall 2007 and adds a little fun to the overall simple style.

May I have these...please?

When I say, "have"...what I really mean is that I want them for free. I know I could easily charge them, but I can't afford a pair of these for awhile (not even on credit)...not while I'm trying to pay off this stupid credit card.

Stupid credit card.

Why You Shouldn't Wear Crocs

I've got a good reason you shouldn't wear Crocs...they're ugly. Might I say...fugly? I mean...I suppose if you were in your house or in your garden, they'd fit in nicely...but it irks me when I see people who've coordinated entire outfits around their Crocs. I guess kids can pull it off ok...I mean, I did wear jellies when I was a kid, but...I dunno. I'm not one to tell someone what to wear...I just wouldn't ever wear them, myself.

However, even though I'm not going to tell you to not wear your Crocs, I would like to provide a good reason that you shouldn't (Yes, a legitimate reason this time). Apparently, people are getting their feet stuck in escalators due to these softy shoes. Ok, ok...I believe most of the reported incidents were w/ children, so you can probably wear your Crocs still...but watch your kiddies...and your own toes if you guys choose to sport your Crocs outside of the house.

Click here for the full article. Source: foxnews.com

Btw, the first warning we got of Crocs was from Catwalk Queen - I linked the post in one of my fashion round-ups (click here to view)

Reebok Gets Sports Chic

If you're wondering where all the boys have gone or why they don't seem to listen to you when the TV is on, you may not have noticed that football season has begun. Yes, ladies...the time of year when most boys will check their fantasy stats every minute on the minute and spend as many minutes of free time in front of the TV as possible. I mean, c'mon...you gotta check out TV all the time now b/c they have football games, halftime shows, shows about the football games, football game highlights, football game fantasy reviews, tips on running your fantasy team...the list goes on.

Well, there is a somewhat-white lining on this cloud for the non-football-fanatic ladies out there. Thanks to Miss Angel of Style Goodies (click to visit her blog), I've learned about some sports chic football gear to ease the loss of your male friends & SO's: Reeboks NFL Women's Gear. Here are my picks:

Reebok Carolina Panthers Women's Vibrant Sunday Hooded Fleece - $64.99

Reebok Carolina Panthers Steve Smith Women's Glitter Jersey - $59.99

Celeb-Double-Take: Fashion Week

So, I was checking out front-row shots of celebrities from Fashion Week, and I had to do a double-take on some of the photos. See for yourself:

Felicity...I mean Keri Russell? What are you doing here? This isn't Felicity - who is this? According to the photo caption Glam.com, it's Bernadette Peters. I'm still not exactly sure who that is, but you guys know I'm not up on pop culture. Here's her Wikipedia site for anyone else who doesn't know who this is (click)

Doesn't this look like Diane Kruger at first glance? It's Molly Sims!

Wow - I thought this was Janice Dickenson until I looked closer! It's Teri Hatcher!

Emmy Awards 2007: Best & Worst Styles

The 59th annual Emmy Awards were today, and here are some of my favorite (and not-so-favorite looks):

Kimora Lee Simmons

I don't care for this dress as much from the front, but the back - wow! Look at Kimora working it, too! You go girl!

Hayden Panettiere

I love Heroes and all, and I think Hayden Panettiere is beautiful, but I just don't think this dress is attractive on her. She looks pregnant. She's not pregnant, is she? I'm not the best on keeping up with celebrity gossip, so I could be behind the news on that one. I think this dress would look a lot better if the skirt were shorter...like, above her knee, but I'm just not liking this style on her. On the other hand, I think her make-up is fabulous. She looks really good from the empire-waist up!

Kristen Bell

I really like Kristen Bell's dress - especially with her skin tone and hair color...although, it looks a tad like something that came from the Lauren Conrad Collection, no? Just not the right color for that collection.

America Ferrera

Even though America Ferrera looks amazing in this outfit...I can't help but wonder why the belt doesn't go all the way around? I think it would better if it were a true belt...or a sash...maybe a patent leather belt? ...or a sparkly black sash with flowing ends that swirl about just a bit? mmm...

What were your favorite looks? What were your not-so-favorite looks?

Lauren Conrad Collection on Sale Now

So, do you guys remember the post I did on the Lauren Conrad Collection a bit ago? Well, the collection went on sale yesterday...yea, I'm a day late on the launch, but I was visiting my fam this weekend for my bday, so I've been spending quality time with them. Anywho, what do you guys think of it? I've read a couple magazine articles on the collection where I found out that she based her collection on a peacock feather and that she wanted to keep the collection simple because she really likes to accessorize (I'd credit the source, but I honestly can't remember where I heard it). To me...the collection is nice, but perhaps a tad too simple. I like the way the solid colors keep the look sleek and simple and how you really could dress up the outfit with accessories, but I don't think a couple outfits with some patterns would have hurt. Either way, there are a couple things that I would consider buying:

Lauren Conrad - Jillian Dress

Lauren Conrad - Sophia Dress

What do you think? Would you get anything?

Love at First Glance: Sweet Frock

I saw this dress in the background of a photo on the blog i_heart_fabric...

...and I knew I had to have it - it was love at first glance. Luckily, the owner of blog and boutique
Frock Shop was super sweet and able to process my order via email, even though their site didn't have a shopping cart at the time (but it does now, so you should check it out). I was so floored to get this dress b/c it was just so unique in the pattern and color combo, and this was in like February, mind you. Anywho, now dresses like this are readily available everywhere, but I don't care...I still love mine.

How-To: Make a Bubble Skirt Work-Appropriate

I got this bubble skirt on a super-sale when a local boutique was closing...about 2 years ago. I remember thinking that the whole bubble skirt idea would never last so I was glad that I was getting my trendy tidbit about 75% off, but who knew it would still be around? Last week, I decided to try to wear my bubble skirt to work:

I think what makes this outfit ok for work is
1. the skirt is black - no flashy patterns or uber-bright colors
2. the skirt is length-appropriate and hits just at my knee
3. simple, classic pieces finish the outfit - black, round-toe pumps and a 3/4 length, simple off-white sweater
4. simple accessories - I have gold, hoopy earrings on...although you can't see them in the photo. Now that I'm thinking about it, though, I really should have worn my Wilson Leather black/gold snakeskin-style bangle...oh well.

Camisole: The Limited
Bubble Skirt: Notice
Shoes: Kenneth Cole
Quilted Purse: Chanel

Remember 9/11 With a Good Deed

I read the most awesome article today related to the anniversary of 9/11 about how people are remembering 9/11 by pledging to do a good deed, and I think this is a wonderful idea. Family and friends of one of the 9/11 victims, Glenn Winuk, founded a site in his honor where people can post their pledges: MyGoodDeed.org.

Mwah to Michael Kors

Check out this beautiful purse by MICHAEL Michael Kors:

MICHAEL Michael Kors Fold-Over Shoulder Bag - not bad at $398

I simple adore the fun orange color and unique shape of this tote. The orange color was the first thing that caught my eye, but the interesting shape makes it a step ahead of the other bags on eluxury.com, not to mention the price is pretty reasonable for so much hauteness. Nicely done, Michael Kors. Mwah!

Prepalicious Pretty

I love this pretty, little cardigan for many reasons:
1. It's floral
2. It has a turqoise background (my fave color)
3. It's super sparkly w/ lots of fun sequins

You can't really see all the sequins in this photo, but they go all up and down the front, mid section of this cardigan. Even the buttons have a bit of shine to them. I got lots of looks today at work - not that I was trying to, I just think people couldn't help but look because as I walked the various sequins would catch the light and flash in people's eyes. Sorry guys if I blinded any of you today...lol.
