When Geek Went Chic: Winter Accessories

If you're like me, you may remember your mom wrapping you up for your walk or bus ride to school...or maybe she just wrapped you up to walk from the house to the car. Either way, I distinctly remember how hideous I thought so many of things were that she was layering on me to keep me warm. Think of it as the typical kid taking a mother's caring for granted ...thanks mom - I know better now. Anywho, as I grew up, I thought those silly winter accessories would grow on me...but, alas...I still hated them. Even today, I was walking my three blocks to work in the chilly gusts of fall/winter air thinking...I'm so cold - maybe those ugly earmuffs wouldn't be that bad? Well, I have good news for anyone else out there who is easily chilled by this chilly weather and looking for a fashionable compromise.

Companies have finally learned to create items that will not only keep us warm, but that will look chic, too!

Forever 21 - Herringbone Tweed Hat - $9.80

Old Navy - Women's Cable-Knit Gloves - $10.50

Gap - Hand-crocheted beanie - $19.50

Banana Republic - Houndstooth scarf - $49.50

Neiman Marcus - Mink Earmuffs - $100

*my fave - can you believe there's such a thing as chic earmuffs?*

Burberry - Check Earmuffs - $135

Macy's - Coach Heritage Signature Stripe Scarf - $148

I'm seriously eyeing those Burberry earmuffs - too cute! I never thought I'd say that about earmuffs!

New J Crew Styles

Has anyone seen the new J Crew catalog? I got mine a couple days ago and I love it! I really love the cuts of the clothes and their interesting use of color - so many bright hues! I'm loving their plaids and argyles, too. Very fun. Here's some more of my virtual shopping list...although, I may have to use my limited "real money" budget money to purchase some of this...it's too cute!

Fab Flats for Fall 2007

I love flats. I love heels, too, but sometimes, you get to the point where you just need a break from them. That's a good time to turn to your (at least my) other fave: flats. Here are some fab flats for Fall 2007:

Façade 'Madison' Flat - $89.95
Gray is the new black, right? The bow is sooo cute, too!

MICHAEL Michael Kors 'Trinity' Flat - $108.95
Flats with some subtle color. I'm feeling the detailing on the front.

Juicy Couture 'Edith' Flat - $225
I'm so in love with these Juicy flats, it's sad. I think I'm going to have to buy these with my limited October budget money. They're very Jessica Alba, no?

Colored Hose for Fall 2007

Based on my recent post on colored hosiery, you guys really like them...except for that bizzaro gold lame shtuff. Anywho, I've purchased a couple colors of tights for this fall 2007 and I can't wait to start wearing them. I feel like my style is very classic...sometimes almost to a fault where my outfits can be boring. Raise your hand if you're tired of seeing Shopaholic D's work outfits. I know, I know, ever since starting my project at the bank, it seems that's all I post any more. Well, I promise to start experimenting more with my outfits...starting with this:

Why am I holding flowers, you ask? These are my b-day flowers, and as I was walking to the only semi-blank wall of my home, I noticed some of them kinda matched my mauve-like hose. I had to take a picture.

Don't worry...I'll still be doing some "classic" outfits, and I'll still post work-wear photos...hopefully, just with more fun outfits worked into the mix. :)

Gray Cotton Dress: American Apparel
Mauve-Toned Hose: DKNY
Ankle Booties: MICHAEL Michael Kors

Colored Hosiery: Must Shop or Must Not?

Not sure if you've noticed or not yet, but colored hosiery is popping up left and right for Fall 2007. What do you think? Is it too over-the-top for you or right up your alley? If I got colored tights (which I probably will), I'd probably start with purple:

American Apparel RSAPH Opaque Pantyhose - $14 (available in many more colors

There's been a lot of buzz on the blogosphere over these and while I've seen them done well in a couple outfits, I just don't think I'm this brave:

American Apparel RSAC306 Gold Lame Leggings - $40

Are colored-hosiery a "Must Shop" or a "Must Not" for you? Are you brave enough to try the gold lame leggings?
