A Little Shoulder - A Lotta Sexy

I'm such a huge fan of one-shoulder tops, whether they be on dresses or just tops-I think they're fab. Most importantly (for me), I think they accentuate my shoulders nicely, which is good for me, b/c I find my shoulders wide and awkward at times...maybe the one-shoulder strappy thing hides the fact that my shouldesr are wide? Stupid gymnastics! I dunno...what I do know is that I am so happy the one shoulder look is "in" again! I've seen a few on the runways, but not too many in the stores yet...maybe they'll come out in full force when we get closer to spring? I'll cross my fingers. In the meantime, here are some I found online:

As U Wish Juniors Gold Metallic One Shoulder Dress - $34.99 (from $58)

Red by Marc Ecko One-Shoulder Print Dress - $59

Maggy London One Shoulder Silk Dress - $138

bebe Sexy One Shoulder Dress - $149

LaROK Cleo One Shoulder Dress - $198

YAYA AFLALO black jersey 'Noir' one-shoulder dress $198 (from $330)

Carmen Marc Valvo One-Shoulder Taffeta Dress $565

Of course, you guys know me and my unlucky skill of always picking out the most expensive item of a rack...the Carmen Marc Valvo is my fave. Just look at the back of this!

Sexy and classy all in one chic package...it doesn't get much better than this. Hmm...maybe I should get this one for my rehearsal dinner?

BCBGirls Does Sleek Chic

I am in a serious shopping rut. I think mainly because I do not have the money to shop, which is always depressing and irritating and just plain blah! You know what I mean? I've been trying to stay away from the mall b/c I know I'll buy too much stuff (this is Shopaholics Anonymous, right? lol), but seeing the BCBGirls collection online is making me want to hop in my car right now!

I'd post direct links to the outfits, but the silly programmers put the site in flash and there are no direct links...boo. However, browsing the fun collection looks is pretty interesting and you may see something else you like, so I'll just put the main link here (click)

This look is just awesome overall. I love layering and I loooove scarves. I also like the interesting sleeves on that top. Only thing I don't like is the drawstring top of the pants...what's with that? The little buttons at the bottom are cool with me, though.

All-black and very Olsen-like, but I like it. Very powerful.

My skinny black pants - I've found you at last! Ooh...and those little gloves...adorable! I wonder if I could rock those in "the real world" without too many stares...although life is really too short to worry about stares, no?

Hey, high-waisted pants that look chic! Although, I wonder if I wouldn't love this look just as much with low-waisted pants?

Gorge Giuseppe Buckled Pumps

With super strappy shoes being hot for Spring 2008, I'm actually slightly considering buying these. When I say "slightly considering buying", what I mean is, I'm imagining myself frolicking in the mall with my Chanel tote and gorge Giuseppe Zanotti's twirling around with lots of shopping bags filled with more Spring '08 goodies. Make that, twirling around in a Diane VonFurstenburg wrap dress...yea...that would be soooo cool. Sorta like Sarah Jessica Parker except more shopping bags...and more twirling...b/c happy people twirl.

Abaete - Simply Graphic for Spring 2008

It's been awhile since I've done a post on a runway collection, but I'm thinking it's just been too long. I miss checking out the runway shows and collections and getting an idea of what's to come for fashion in the next season. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a fashion expert and probably don't know most of what I'm looking at the way someone who is trained (i.e. went to fashion school, you lucky people), but I still enjoy it. Here are my picks from the Abaete runway for Spring 2008

Simply Graphic Dresses

I love the simplicity in the style of these dresses and the clean lines are so refreshing to me. The green/white/black one above is my fave and I would so buy it...if only I were rich. These dresses look like dresses I would actually wear - they're so simply chic!

Who was your fave designer for Spring 08?

What's Your Guilty Fashion Pleasure?

Everyone (ok, almost everyone) has some secret fashion adoration that isn't exactly always mainstream or widely accepted. For me, I secretly love knee-highs. Perhaps I've watched Clueless one too many times, but if knee-highs would come back into style, I'd be all over it. Ok, so even when I was in high school, I got nervous wearing knee-highs in public, but I'd at least think about it. What I'm really trying to work towards is not caring so much what other people think, but that is so hard sometimes! That's why I'm trying to work on putting together some more risque items. :)

Anywho, here's Sarah Jessica Parker (as Carrie Bradshaw) on the set of the new Sex and the City movie:

What do you think of knee highs?

Fab Flats for Fall 2007

I love flats. I love heels, too, but sometimes, you get to the point where you just need a break from them. That's a good time to turn to your (at least my) other fave: flats. Here are some fab flats for Fall 2007:

Façade 'Madison' Flat - $89.95
Gray is the new black, right? The bow is sooo cute, too!

MICHAEL Michael Kors 'Trinity' Flat - $108.95
Flats with some subtle color. I'm feeling the detailing on the front.

Juicy Couture 'Edith' Flat - $225
I'm so in love with these Juicy flats, it's sad. I think I'm going to have to buy these with my limited October budget money. They're very Jessica Alba, no?

Emmy Awards 2007: Best & Worst Styles

The 59th annual Emmy Awards were today, and here are some of my favorite (and not-so-favorite looks):

Kimora Lee Simmons

I don't care for this dress as much from the front, but the back - wow! Look at Kimora working it, too! You go girl!

Hayden Panettiere

I love Heroes and all, and I think Hayden Panettiere is beautiful, but I just don't think this dress is attractive on her. She looks pregnant. She's not pregnant, is she? I'm not the best on keeping up with celebrity gossip, so I could be behind the news on that one. I think this dress would look a lot better if the skirt were shorter...like, above her knee, but I'm just not liking this style on her. On the other hand, I think her make-up is fabulous. She looks really good from the empire-waist up!

Kristen Bell

I really like Kristen Bell's dress - especially with her skin tone and hair color...although, it looks a tad like something that came from the Lauren Conrad Collection, no? Just not the right color for that collection.

America Ferrera

Even though America Ferrera looks amazing in this outfit...I can't help but wonder why the belt doesn't go all the way around? I think it would better if it were a true belt...or a sash...maybe a patent leather belt? ...or a sparkly black sash with flowing ends that swirl about just a bit? mmm...

What were your favorite looks? What were your not-so-favorite looks?

Jewel Toned Shoes for Fall 2007

Check out these beautiful, jewel-toned shoes I found this week:

Lumiani Venezia

Nine West Jape2

Steven Babbett

*I saved the best for last*

Vince Camuto Heaven

Spice up your fall outfits with fun-toned shoes. Colors too bright will bring thoughts of warmer weather (and the summery outfits to match), while darker colors will fit perfectly.

3 Sexy Tops - 3 Budgets - Summer 2007

Here are 3 sexy, summer tops for 3 different budgets for Summer 2007:

Surefire Steal:

Forever 21 (image and item) - Knit Babydoll - $22.80
Simple enough to go from day to night. The green color will stand out among a sea of black & white combos that are starting to become so cliche right now.

Slight Stretch:

bebe (image and item) Reversible Silk Halter Top - $89
Although I just said that the whole "black/white combo" is starting to become overdone, I haven't gotten completely sick of it yet...ok, ok, I still like it...for now. Back to the featured clothes...How cool is it that this top is reversible?

Serious Splurge

Miu Miu (image and item net-a-porter.com) Washed Satin Top - was $495 - now $247.50
I had to post a picture of the back of this top - so chic! I love love love it!

Happy sexy shopping!

Summer Dress Deals at American Eagle

I have a wedding to attend later today...I'm actually an honorary bridesmaid, so we were in Columbia, SC for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner yesterday. Anywho, The wedding isn't until 2PM later today, so I'm up and shopping the web from my hotel room...what else do you expect a shopaholic to do in her free time? Lol. Lucky for you guys I found three fab summer dresses on sale at American Eagle (ae.com) that I thought I'd share:

AE Patchwork Grad Party Dress Was $69.50 - Now $59.95
Not only is white super-chic for daytime attire, but the color will help reflect the sun, keeping you cool.

AE Strapless Party Dress Was $69.50 - Now $59.95
Ahh...the classic Madras pattern - eye-catchingly sweet - this pattern matches most of your closet, so you can easily choose accessories and a cardigan (should you need a cover-up for those chilly-indoor-events).

AE Sunset Dress Was $59.50 - Now $44.95
Royal purple makes you look regal paired with either gold or silver metallic accessories.

With the summer heat in full force, a chic, cotton, daytime dress is a must-have for Summer 2007, especially with deals like this at arm's reach!

Setting Sights On: Gucci

I love my Chanel, don't get me wrong, but I'm kind of a "matchy-matchy" person. You know, the kind who doesn't like to mix black and brown, which brings me to my point. I get a lil uncomfortable leaving my house with brown shoes and a brown-toned outfit and my black, quilted Chanel. It's nothing that would keep me from actually leaving my house or being embarrassed of my outfit or purse (like anyone could ever be embarrassed of a Chanel), but I do think about it. Perhaps I could never wear brown again? Now, that's just silly...what I need is something different...something brown...something classic...something chic...something designer...something Gucci? Darn you shopaholicism!

Gucci Chain Large Hobo

Have you ever heard designer bags are addictive? Well, I'm here to tell you it's absolutely true! It may be awhile before I can afford another designer tote, but I'm willing to swear off other purses till I find my perfect brown-toned-beauty. Maybe when I have the money, I'll still have my sights set on the Gucci hauteness pictured above. *le sigh*

NOTE: Image and item from neimanmarcus.com

PS I would like to add that "light brown" and black is pretty cute...I'm just not a fan of dark brown and black...ick!

Super Sexy Stilettos - Summer 2007

How haute are these stilettos?

Jimmy Choo Disco Sandals - $750

A great addition to any fashionista's Summer 2007 shoe collection (for those lucky ladies who afford them). Theses sexy stilettos would be the perfect compliment for your favorite LBD.

If you like the look, but not the pricetag, these are still expensive (in my book), but less than half the price of the Choos:

Stuart Weitzman Dressmaker - $285.00

Btw, not sure how long it will last, but Zappos is offering Free Overnight Shipping! How sweet is that?

NOTE: First image and item from saks.com; second from zappos.com

Adorable Loose-Fitting Dress for Summer 2007

I want this dress:

Velvet - Gretta in Midnight
Image and item from Azaleaonline.com

It's very Nicole Richie, no?

...on drawback - the web site says this is a top, yet it comes up when you click on Dresses. I wonder if this would be too short to wear as a dress if you aren't a super-rich celebutante? Hmmm...

Haute Flats For Work-Chic Style 2007

Has anyone else noticed how hard it is to find cute flats for work?

Here are some simple but super cute options to make your business casual outfit a tad more on the comfortable side, while still maintaining your style:

Report "Cassie" Peep-Toe Flat - $49
Image and item from macys.com
Not quite as dressy as the next two, but certainly easier on the pocket.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Open Toe Ballet Flat - $97.95
I love MK, not to mention you can rock these metallic cuties with black or brown - who doesn't like a lil' extra versatility?
Image and item from nordstrom.com

Phoebe Leather Peep-Toe Flats - $148
I actually have these in brown and I love them! Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Most definitely - they are so chic and comfy!
Image and item from jcrew.com

Anyone else know of some cute flats for work?

Reader Question: Peasant Blouse

Shopaholic sweetie, NormaGail, asks, "Where can I find a pair of wide leg trousers or jeans, am also looking for one of those blouses that have a peasant look with the big sleeves and that are meant to be tucked into the wide legged pants ?"

(For my "I'm-no-fashion-expert-disclaimer", click here)

Hey Norma, Since I wasn't sure about your colors or budget, I found three options for you. The tops I found are slightly modernized peasant tops, which I think will add some extra chic to your peasant top and wide-leg look:

Banana Republic Jersey Peasant Top - $44
Probably the most normal-peasanty-looking top of the group - simple and comfy

Kenneth Cole Reaction Swing Top - $99
I love how this top is lacy b/c lacy looks haute with wide leg pants - the femininity of the top balances out the menswear-style look of wide-leg-pants.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Broderie Anglaise Top - $268
Clean lines with ornate details that add extra style to the overall look

Happy Shopping!
