Week of Thrifts Kick-Off

I went by the Junior League warehouse this weekend and scooped up quite a few nice vintage and thrift finds. Enough, in fact, that I thought I'd do a week of thrifts - outfits with thrifted items, that is. They won't be 100% thrifteditem-outfits - that's not really my style. I like to mix and match secondhand items with the latest styles. I buy and wear what I like, regardless of how much (or how little) I paid for it (but I think many of you out there will know exactly what I'm talking about). I've been having lots of fun playing with the outfits and what I really want to start doing is more outfits that are a bit more fun - trendy, deconstructed, rock chic - whatever - I just want to play with my clothes a little more. :) Anywho, starting this week, don't be surprised to see more funky outfits making the mix.

Here's an off-white ruffly, silk top with pearl buttons I picked up:

Ladylike with the pencil skirt by with a trendy twist of ankle booties - I think this outfit would look a lot better with black opaque or semi-opaque tights, but my friend taking the pictures said you guys wouldn't be able to see the ankle booties.

I think this top also looks super sleek with just jeans and maybe simple pumps.

Rufflly Silk Top: Thrifted DANCASTER
Pencil Skirt: Banana Republic
Seafoam-Green Snakeskin Clutch: Thrifted Express
Ankle Booties: Anne Klein NY
Jeans: Banana Republic

You need to tell us how much the thrifted item cost so we know if you got a great bargain!

Thanks Candid Cool!

GG - I got both! Both but with the idea that I'll try them out in person (at home, not out and about) and see which one I like best and which one fits best.

Thanks Catlin!

Hey Shoegal - Junior League is more expensive than most thrift stores, but they have some really nice stuff sometimes. I was going to look back at the tags when I got home, but they took all of them off! I think this top was about $20 or $30, but not too shabby for 100% silk, eh?

Thanks Diana - and you're very welcome - you have awesome style!

I agree Millisa! Will do!

Oo.. now I'm wishing I bought that one jacket I saw in Windsor for $50...

Damn. I'm still thinking about it too. *sigh*

Note to self: buy what you love at thrift stores, it may not be there when you head back.

Do you go to the Goodwills and Salvation Armies? Or to the higher end ones?

I agree, the blouse is great! I love mixing thrift and new pieces as well. Makes for a good combination that is just funky enough without being over the top.

Hey Fabulously Broke in the City, I've been thrifting since I was a kid. I actually usually hit up Goodwill/Salvation Army. This is my first visit to a "high-end" thrift store. I like going to both kinds, but I do have the say the Junior League had some really nice items. More pricey, but still extremely discounted.

Exactly, Londyn!
