Poll: Do You Keep Uncomfortable Shoes?

So, I'm in "cleaning mode" tonight and besides trying to pick up my place, I'm trying to go through some of my closet to see if there's anything I can toss - I do this on a regular basis. At the moment, I'm wearing a pair of super cute, but super uncomfortable shoes and I'm debating on whether I should toss them or keep them. While I think they're adorable, the tiny straps that are just above the toe area are so skinny, they're painful when you wear them for a long time. I know I've worn shoes with skinny straps like these before, so maybe it's the material? I dunno, but I know they're hardly worth wearing, even though they match my light yellow skirt perfectly.

So, I ask you most-awesomest-readers, do you keep uncomfortable shoes simply because they're cute? If you do, do you find that you never wear them or only wear them when you know you won't have to walk around much? If you don't, do you regret tossing some of those not-so-comfy shoes or are you glad you made space in your closet for new ones?

Do you keep uncomfortable shoes b/c they're cute?
Yes, but I never wear them
Yes, but I only wear them for short distances
No, but I wish I still had some of the ones I've tossed
No, why would I keep something I'd never wear?

Since starting this blog, I've received many a tip on how to pick out a good pair of shoes, and one lesson I've learned is that the shoes have to be comfortable when you buy them. Of course, there are always the pairs that sneak up on you - comfy when you try them on at the store and shockingly uncomfortable once you've worn them out, scuffed them, and can no longer return them...alas! What's a girl to do?

That happens to me all the time. I'll try on a pair of shoes in the store, and they fit fine and I get home and wear them and before you know it, I've got blisters all over and I'm in agony. I have a pair of super bad-ass sandals at home but I never wear them because they hurt my feet. I call these "car shoes" because they are only for riding in the car, not walking or dancing. LOL (By the way, I really LOVE those shoes that hurt you, maybe you can wear them in the house with thin socks to stretch them a bit more?)

My one pair of shoes I loved in store, WERE comfortable.. until I wore them for a long time and realize the straps weren't good at staying up (annoying) and kept chafing my heel *sigh*

But I still like them :( just not to walk in long distances in. Now I'm wary of ALL sling backs.

I used to wear really uncomfortable shoes--anything for fashion, eh?

But I've had 2 bunion surgeries on the same foot--the pain of the surgery and the length of time of recovery has made me change my tune.

Now shoes have to be supremely comfortable in store. I don't buy uncomfortable shoes and stay away from anything over 2.5" (sigh).

I also put a bunch of beautiful yet painful shoes in boxes high up on a shelf in my closet. Can't bear to part with them, can't bear to wear them!

I hate when that happens, Naddy! Sometimes, a pair is comfy for a while, and then all of a sudden...BAM! You can hardly walk in them any more...I hate that...ick!

"Car Shoes" - lol, Amethyst! I totally know what you mean, though!

You didn't leave a link, Punky.

I like slingbacks, but they definitely seem more fragile than normal shoes - the slings stretch out or the elastic breaks *sad face*

Ouch Anonymous! That sounds painful, but a good warning for some of us. Maybe you can turn your shoes into a creative display or piece of art? Maybe display them on shelves or put them in a shadow box?

I bought this great pair of shoes and when I tried them on in the store, they were perfect. The next day, i wore them to work and my feet were killing me. Talk about some bad blisters. So, I called my best friend about it and she told me about this atlete's foot stick her brother used for his feet that also helped him when he had a new pair of shoes. Since the stick was like deodrant, she put some on the parts known for blisters on her feet, and her most horrible pair of shoes became her favorite pair to wear. So I tried it and it worked. Now I can wear my favorite pair of shoes to work without blisters. Tell everyone about it.
