Week of Thrifts: Day 4 Couture

From my recent thrift adventure, I scored a serious find - a vintage Christian Dior skirt suit. Yea, at first, I thought it was kinda ugly, but I picked it up and tried it on anyways. The more I looked at it, the more it grew on me, and I was happy to see that it actually fit pretty well, too, when I tried it on. I doubt I'll ever wear the suit together, but I'll definitely be breaking it up into some different outfits. Here are a couple outfits with the skirt - my very own little piece of couture:

Sweet

Ruffly Top: Target
Taupe Clutch: Ann Taylor Loft
Gray Suede Peep-Toe Platform Pumps: Kate Spade

Sleek

Green Trapeze Top: Banana Republic
Black Leather Purse: Kenneth Cole
Black & Gold Necklace: D Celestine Limited
Gray Suede Peep-Toe Platform Pumps: Kate Spade

Not sure what the "Gazebo" tag is, but my friend told me people used to sew tags into their clothes with their names. My guess is Madame Gazebo once owned this fine suit.

Here's a closer picture of the lovely floral pattern in the suit material - it's so silky soft!

Can you believe this suit was only $39?

That is such a steal!! I love the colour - green is very in right now. It is so hard to find vintage stuff! How long does it take you?? Do you go through every single rack?

It suits you great! But, I'm always a bit icky when it comes to wearing 2nd hand clothing. What do you do to make it less icky before you wear it??

What a great find! I particularly love the skirt with the darker green tank, that is a fantastic outfit! I'm curious what the fit of the jacket is like that came with that skirt, and what you pair it with.

This is a great series, showing us how you work your vintage/thrift finds in to your wardrobe. Thanks so much!

I bet you would be fun to shop with, GG!

Bitterbabe, this was actually one of the first items I picked up...they have a couple consignment racks that tend to be a bit more expensive, but in better condition...althought $39 for Dior is IMO a steal!

I just wash or dry-clean thrifted clothes...I'm actually quite the germ-o-phobe, but for some reason, secondhand clothes don't bother me.

Thanks Shoegal!

Thanks Giselle!

I agree, Frasypoo - unless I'm feeling extra retro, I think I'll be doing these pieces separately.

Hey Christine, thanks for the positive feedback. Hopefully, I'll have some time tonight to style some outfits with the blazer!

lalaliu - just keep thrifting and your lucky outfit will pop-up sooner than you think!
