Looking For: Black Skinny Jean/Pant

I've been looking for a great pair of black skinny jeans and/or pants. Prior to my buckling down on the credit card payoff, I was willing to pay for "designer", but now I'm looking for something more suited for a "budget."

Here's all I've found so far:

"Designer":

Elizabeth and James - Bardot Pant - $198

"Budget":

Urban Outfitters - BDG Black Cigarette Jean - $54

Any of you fellow shopaholics have any suggestions?

If you crave legit designer but at the same time, don't want to dish out the money, try Nordstrom Rack. Depends where you live. It has all the brands like Nordstrom is but the Rack basically sells of season or a little damaged items. Good buys, check it out.

I think the leg poses of the models in those pictures are so funny and awkward... I wonder how they are directed to pose......

Yes! Check out J. Crew's "matchstick" style skinny jean. They are somewhat in between designer priced and non-designer priced. I have not bought a pair yet but I tried them on and I was surprised that they look good on me since I'm kinda curvy (a.k.a. hippy, zaftig, lol)

Okay... so I needed to get some really cheap skinny "work" black jeans that really looked like pants so where is a girl to go? Forever 21 of course! I have to say, for a $20something pair of pants they're actually veryyyy comfortable. The only bad thing I would say is that they stretch out a little at the waist. Try it!

My fave are J Brand skinnies - they are ultraflattering with just the right amount of stretch. But I have those Urban skinnies in blue and they are fine, too. I would splurge for Designer here, because black slim pants are not going anywhere anytime soon! In fact, you should get two pairs: one with a longer inseam, so it bunches at the ankles, and the other shorter - ankle length, to tuck into boots or wear with sandals :)

None on my end.. I don't own a pair :(

I'm searching for the perfect straight-legged mid rise white jean...

I've never tried Acne jeans - are they good?

Style-ish - those are too cute! The price is right too!

Hey Mandy, I don't live near one of those, unfortunately. :(

Redhead - I bet all their poses are pretty uncomfortable...lol

Hey Marie, I love J Crew! I guess I didn't think they'd have skinny jeans, but I don't see why they wouldn't. Good call!

Aizat - Agreed!

Sarah - for that price, it would be worth it to at least try some on, no? I haven't been to F21 in a long time, but on my new budget, I really should go!

Hi CoutureCarrie - normally I would, but my budget is tee-tiny right now. boo! lol

Thanks for all the great tips guys! I'll have to check some of those out with my July budget.

My friend has the urban outfitters skinnys and they look really nice. She says they're really comfy and she loves them.

also Sort of off topic but:
Do you think I could wear skinny jeans? I'm 5'4" and my legs aren't necessarily skinny... and usually i stick to bootcut but do you think it would work?

Hey Linds,

Thanks for letting me know about your friend liking her UO jeans.

I have no idea what you look like or what size you are, but in general, I don't think you need to be a stick figure to wear skinny jeans, and I def think curvy girls can rock skinny jeans. Personally, I like to pair my skinny pants with something looser on top...and usually longer to balance out the skinniness of the pants, so you could try doing that to make yourself more comfortable with the look. Here's a forum on the subject that may help: http://www.curvychick.com/chick_chat_groups/fashion__style/index.php?see=viewTopic&topic=129289060822070441

HTH,

D :)

It's so hard to find good black denim and too many people don't know how to wear it! This article talks about the dos and don'ts: The Dark Denim Dilemma.

this might be a little off the beaten path, but i've had good luck with skinny jeans/pants at skater store zumiez...the skinny look is in with that crowd, too. they carry a brand called empyre that fits me like a glove...and you can find them on sale for as low as $19.99 sometimes. their pants are stretchy & versatile enough that they're comfortable to wear casually, but also look good with heels. you can check it out at zumiez.com, but it's best to just go try them on.

I recently purchased some bullhead black super skinny jeans at pacsun. Normally their clothes are too 'skater' looking for me , but these jeans are amazing and were about $40
